Re: System Backup, Restore and Update

We're looking for an OTA update for the kernel for our product and this sounds sort of correct. We're at VSOS 3.55 but would like to include new kernels in our update mechanism. Does 3.55 include this or how would we go about replacing our kernel with update.bin? By this time we will have no serial ...

Re: Turn off the 5.6s power off feature VS1005

Not having any luck with that either. 1) We discovered that turning off the brownout detector wasn't a good idea. The device would get to "Hello" at the start of VSOS about every 15 minutes. 2) Set the bits as indicated. Sometimes the device goes off, other times it stays running. 3) When IOVDD powe...

Re: Turn off the 5.6s power off feature VS1005

We're still having problems with this. We thought that to reduce power consumption on power off we'd park all the Gpio pins at 0 and as input. Are we better off setting them all to output and 0 or 1? It's difficult to test because some devices work fine and others have trouble. for( i = 0; i < 46; +...

VOS 3.5x

I had trouble with DiskFree.dl3 not running on VSOS 3.54 (complained about being too old) so I recompiled it and reloaded. It then gave a memory corruption error - out of X space or some such. So I downloaded 3.55g ran it there and voila! It runs fine even on the SD card. I then tried it on another ...

Re: Blank VS1205g chips and rebuilding OS.

Our fault - everything working fine. We forgot how to do this and were trying to program the wrong port.

As a side complement: I've been programming for almost 50 years and this is the first time I've ever encountered a new release of an operating system that was smaller than the previous. Well done!

Re: Blank VS1205g chips and rebuilding OS.

Some experiments: 1) Apology: We have the VS1005GF chip. 2) Pins 6 and 7 are connected together and to IOVDD. Verified with scope, ohmmeter. 3) The only real difference we can tell between this board and previous is: a) Different tri-color LED (which appears to work as advertised when connected to t...

Re: Blank VS1205g chips and rebuilding OS.

We'll give that a try. Is the date on your server set correctly? Messages are showing up as 2017 instead of 2018 so I don't get the notifications of a response. Perhaps this is a feature of the Windows 10 upgrade we were just subjected to.

I refer you to the very famous computer scientist Leslie Lamport about religion and what happens to people that use blanks in file names. You'll find it somewhere near the beginning of the LaTeX manual.

Re: Windows 10 compatibility

Windows 10 and Makefiles. I'm using the Makefile's created by VSIDE with some minor modifications but have noticed some problems with Windows 10 installation. GNU make doesn't seem to like having VSIDE in the default c:/Program Files (x86)/VSIDE In particular, it objects to the parentheses and does ...

Re: Turn off the 5.6s power off feature VS1005

Still working this problem: vs1005g.h lists three routines: PowerShutDownFlash, PowerOff, and RealPowerOff. PowerOff appears in the VSOS documentation though it's not explained. Do these do anything in addition to the regulator power off? Which one should I call, if any? After shutting down the regu...
