Re: Voltage output levels of VS1003

Thanks, I got everything I need now. Re-reading my question #2, I didn't properly word and I agree it's confusing. Fyi, I was confused when going through this reference design and hence my questions in this thread: http://www.vlsi.fi/fileadmin/evaluation_boards/VoipSchematicsV16.pdf It's not clear w...

Re: Voltage output levels of VS1003

Thanks Pasi, just to confirm my understanding: 1a. If I understand correctly then, assuming a nominal RCAP of 1.24, then the signal with full scale output voltage of 1.7 Vpp is as shown in this diagram. Is this correct? Maximum voltage is 2.09V and minimum is 0.4 V, for this particular test scenario...

Voltage output levels of VS1003

This maybe a basic/silly question, so I apologize in advance if that’s the case. I’m working on an embedded project where I’ll be using the VS1003 MP3 decoder along with a class D amplifier to play back audio using a mono on PCB speaker in differential mode (SM DIFF). I want to select an amplifier w...

Thanks Hannu. I have another unrelated question so will post shortly in another thread.

LDOs & power supplies for AVDD, CVDD, IOVDD on VS1003

Hello I’d like some clarification regarding the power supplies required for the VS1003 chip. According to the datasheet, the following power supplies are required: • AVDD (2.6V – 2.85V) • CVDD (2.4V – 2.85V) • IOVDD ((VDD-0.6) – 3.6V) And it’s implied that separate power supplies/LDOs are required f...

Re: VS1003 with PCB mono speakers and external speakers via 3.5mm jack

Great, thanks Hannu. One other question I was going to ask, is that I noticed (on the VLSI Solutions website) some of the reference designs with 3.5mm jack have back to back Zener diode (MG054S05X150DP) on the 3.5mm jack terminals and others don't. I understand this is for ESD protection, but I'm cu...

Hi Hannu , Pasi

Just wondering if you can give your feedback on my last post?

Thanks!

Re: VS1003 with PCB mono speakers and external speakers via 3.5mm jack

Thank you Pasi for the feedback and Hannu for the detailed explanation and insights! I understand this a bit better now. Please let me attempt to summarize your points: • Connect “COMMON” of line out to “GND” (good catch, I didn’t think of that indirect short) to avoid grounding CBUF • Have 2 option...

Re: VS1003 with PCB mono speakers and external speakers via 3.5mm jack

Pasi, Hannu, thank you for the input. Strange, I was wondering if there was an update to this thread and upon getting no email notification after a few days of posting, I thought I’d check the forum and sure enough, I saw your replies. It turns out the email notifications were automatically marked a...
