Re: Feedback on recorder system

Aren't there analog MEMS microphones available? Yes, but in the case of the VS1010, we're speaking specifically of a digital MEMS microphone, since the VS1010 has a digital MEMS microphone demodulator, but not an AD converter. Well, actually there is the successive approximation AD converter, but t...

Re: VS1205(VS1005)ROM UPDATE

Hi! How many failing chips do you have, when were they purchased? If they were manufactured a long time ago (years ago), the factory test has been old version and maybe has not caught all the problems. If the chip doesn't start at 50 degrees, you could be in contact with quality@vlsi.fi If we do not...

Re: Multiple SD cards on a VS1005 system

Hi! Basically I just verified that the hardware works. I modified the existing SD driver so that it starts one of the cards in startup, based on the command line parameter - that way you can use one of the cards but you can select which one you use. The next step would be to make a driver that can e...

Re: VS1003b SPI Audio In-Audio Out Problem

Hi! Can you describe further which PCB you are using (please post a web link) and which firmware you are using (please post a web link to download file). Can you explain further what does it mean that the output is "not clear"... what kind of problems there are? (noise, hiss, too low volume, extra s...

Re: VS1205(VS1005)ROM UPDATE

Hi! I think you mean FLASH update, not ROM? Can you post the complete output from the prommer and describe what you are doing and which PCB you are using. When you choose the prommer application in VSIDE, be sure to use internal prommer for internal flash and external prommer for external flash. -Panu

Re: Flash memory and drivers

Hi! You're basically right. The main problem is that most large flash chips have large erase block sizes. And general code that updates a small block of data inside an erase block, that need to do a read-modify-write operation need to store the contents of the whole erase block somewhere. The kernel...

Re: Feedback on recorder system

Hi! VS1010 doesn't have analog inputs (except successive approximation ADC) so you'd use a MEMS microphone with VS1010. VS1053 has analog input so you'd use an analog microphone with VS1053. I'd be interested to find which examples of MEMS to WAV tutorials you have found. The ones I found with Googl...

Re: Long File Names

Hi! Creating long filenames used to be patented so we never implemented it. It's not something you can hack easily. I don't really have an easy solution for you. What kind of information do you need in the file name? Perhaps the information you need can be packed into 8 characters by some algorithm....

Re: Feedback on recorder system

Hi, and welcome to the forum! I think there's several ways to do this. Obviously I'll first try to suggest one of our products; the VS1010 (see VS1010 forum ) which has an RTC and two MEMS demodulators on hardware and quite modest power consumption. It also has I2S, 2 UARTs and 2 SPI ports which you...
