Re: Memory management issues

Hello! The low amount of free memory is constantly causing audio overflows on recording, usually around 6500 samples lost per second. Only when the device is recording from optical input (S/PDIF) and no audio is playing it doesn't lose samples. What is your clock speed? If at e.g. the default 60 MHz...

Re: Memory management issues

Hi! After typing this edit, I figured it out: I have to copy-paste from your post and it works with LF (enter or CTRL+M still returns to beginning of line). Apparently the tildes inputted by copy-pasting and typing are different. A tilde should always be a tilde, and if that was not correct, it woul...

Re: Memory management issues

Hello! Update: I accidentally bricked the internal flash of the dev board by calling AuInput with a wrong -p pointer. I got it restored, but now I'm running out of memory on BOOT!!! What's going on? Was some sort memory map file corrupted? In addition to what Panu wrote, I suggest that for the futur...

Adverts for VS1005 / VSOS

Hello! Adverts is a new program for VS1005 / VSOS that is intended for a system that plays advertisements over background music. Both the background music and the ads can be conveniently put on an SD card. Adverts can play these files in a timed fashion, either in alphabetical order or through shuff...

Re: Memory management issues

Hello! We have just realized that it is actually unnecessary to write any input changing code for the VLSI chip if we can just boot it in UART console mode and control it from the front panel using that. A couple of problems arise with this approach: #1: Is it possible to change the recording volume...

Re: Latest VS1005 Amp Board Firmware v1.02

Oh, please note that the new version of AmpBConf of the previous message is not yet part of the VSOS 3.57 Root Images and Libraries package because that was released already a week ago. So, if you want the new functionality, download AmpBConf.dl3 from here until the next VSOS release's Root Images a...

Re: VS1003 + TPA3128D2 (Class D)

Hello! The single-ended full-scale sine output from VS1003 at full output volume (register SCI_VOL = 0x0000) is around 1500 mVpp so your value of 260 mVpp seems very low. When connecting to a differential amplifier you can connect Left output to one terminal and Right output to the other terminal, a...

Re: VS1005 4-channel HiRes Recorder

Hello Scott! Well explained with sufficient detail. Especially significant are the details on bypassing the file system, using the battery backup ram (which we are using - now to schedule turning the device on and selecting FM station, SD audio file playback, etc), and how you overcame FAT32 while w...

Re: Latest VS1005 Amp Board Firmware v1.02

Hello! Here is a minor update for VSOS 3.57 that we released just a few days ago. One change is that the solution AmpBConf included in this package can now be customized so that the user can tell which pin acts as the SD card's power regulator control pin. So, while the default is still 0x07 for GPI...

OggInsert: Add comments to Ogg Vorbis files with microcontroller

Hello! There have occasionally been questions by our customers whether it would be possible to add custom comments to Ogg Vorbis files. Our ICs don't currently have direct support for this, but attached to this message is a program called OggInsert, written in standard ANSI C, which reads an Ogg Vor...
