VS1053 / VS1063 and long filenames

Hi, I have been using VS1063 with the standalone recorder software (with some modifications for my application) for some time now and would like to ask if long file names, or at least longer than 8 characters could be supported. Alternatively, being able to set an ID3 tag field could be equally usef...

Re: File number limit for VS1063 Standalone Encoder ?

Hi Henrik, thank you for the reply. I see that there is a macro EXTEND_DIRECTORY in c-fatfindentry.c but is commented out. I tried enabling but I got compile errors. I will test your trick creating and deleting the files on a pc and report the results. Does it matter how large the files are? Would z...

File number limit for VS1063 Standalone Encoder ?

Hi all, I am using VS1063 as a standalone encoder to periodically record audio to separate MP3 files stored in a microSD card. It generally works fine, but I have recently found that it stops recording after a number of files has been saved. I am thinking that there is some limitation in the FAT cod...

Re: Line out, Line in and Headphone connections

I record in stereo, with each mic to its own channel, so that I can later separate each microphone.

Re: Line out, Line in and Headphone connections

Hi Panu, the problem that I want to solve is the loud noise recorded in the left channel when the optional passive microphone is not connected. I have thought of the resistor between MICP/MICN too, but haven;t tried it yet. I too tend to believe that detecting the presence of the microphone and adju...

Re: Line out, Line in and Headphone connections

Hello, I have a standalone VS1063 mp3 recorder design that uses an onboard active microphone (ADMP504) and an optional passive one connected via mini-jack. The active microphone (integrated amplifier) is connected to Line2 (pin 48) through an RC filter. The external passive microphone jack is connec...

Re: UART control

I am also trying to build a UART controlled application, and I want to use the buffered UART option that seems to exist already in the source code of the standalone recorder. I have enabled the RX interrupt and included uartasm.s which includes the buffer code and the interrupt vector. However I hav...

Re: Promming an EEPROM or SPI FLASH with VS1053

Hi all, I have developed a standalone application for the vs1063 using VSIDE and have succesfully programmed it using the VSIDE option. I want now to automate the programming process without the need of VSIDE. Can you please specify the correct options for vs3emu.exe to program the VS1063? Thank you...

Re: Making a timer interrupt to work

I have a VS1063 operating as a standalone recorder and I want some form of timekeeping for tasks like button polling, led blinking and recording length calculation. Right now I am using the ui.Strobe trigger as is in the standalone recorder source code, but the led blinks erraticly and the only way ...

Re: vs10xx recording

I want to record MP3 (mono, 48KHz, 160Kbps) with the minimum possible power consumption. I tried setting SCI_VOL=0xFFFF (analog out is not used) but the resulting mp3 file is blank except from a "pop" in the beginning. The current consumption is reduced, around 25mA for the Sparkfun VS1063 board inc...
