VS1053 MIDI audio

Post by GertBaars » Tue 2017-12-05 15:38

The datasheet mentions the VS1053 max audio output = 2 Vpp.
The Vs1053 is in realtime midi-mode. Everyting seems ok except
the audio output is only 0.3 Vpp. (?)

The master and channel volumes affect the level. There is also a compander so that the output would not be clipped.

Do you have SCI connected? (It could be used to manipulate various things.)

Tried setting breathcontrol, volume and expression to 127
but these settings seem default. Have only Rx connected.

Unfortunately with just MIDI (RX) control the options on the software side are limited.

If SCI were connected, we could try to figure out some way of adjusting the output limiter.

On the hardware side, external amplifier would be one solution. It is usually needed if connecting to a speaker.
