See the Prototyping Board page: http://www.vlsi.fi/en/support/evaluatio ... board.html

The standalone player for vs1003 is in http://www.vlsi.fi/fileadmin/evaluation ... one120.zip

How do we recompile it if it's needed?
Thanks

Mostly you don't. VS1003 has so little instruction memory that it's not easy to add anything. There is no VSIDE solution for vs1003 version of the standalone player.

VSIDE solutions for vs1053 and vs1063 are available. They both have some more instruction memory so it's practical for you to develop code.

You can find the application solutions from:
http://www.vlsi.fi/en/support/software/ ... tions.html
This forum is also full of solved problems which can help to design your application

VSIDE runs quite nicely under Wine. If serial port gives problems, see https://wiki.winehq.org/Wine_User%27s_G ... llel_Ports

VSIDE can be downloaded http://www.vlsi.fi/en/support/software/vside.html

That's a good news that it can run on Wine,
Thanks for the solution, I will try and posted,
I need to design PCB first for it, thanks
The software will be written on SPI flash chip right, any SPIs will do, I reckon ?

thanks

SPI EEPROM of SPI FLASH of the required size to hold the standalone player application would do. In the case of vs1003, 8kB SPI EEPROM should be enough.

After the standalone player application has been loaded, it talks with a uSD/SD/MMC card in SPI mode. The card is connected to mostly the same pins as the boot memory. See the standalone player document for more information.
