Which chip and board to use?

Post by mh123 »

I am investigating to solve my project by creating a VLSI stand-alone application.

Requirements are
* Music playback from SD card
* Gapless playback of two tracks
* AD-mixin - combine line-in with played music, with volume control
* GPIO for communication with a simple RF module (RF, WiFi, ... to be determined)
* Enough memory for the logic
* PCB exists

What chip and board would be suitable? I think the VS1063 would be suitable, but I am not sure if it has enough memory.

While we are at it, do you have any distributors of your boards in Germany, so I could save the 35 Euros shipping?

Thanks a lot

vs1063a doesn't have that many free GPIO pins, and doesn't have a hardware (master) SPI to connect a RF module would. The amount of instruction RAM is also limited.

So, I think with vs1063a you would need to drop quite a few requirements from the list. You probably need vs1005 to cover them all.

For German distribution see Egnite (see http://www.vlsi.fi/en/contact.html ).

Thanks for the suggestion. Looks like vs1005 is what I need too.
