I2S on the VS1053b - Master or Slave

I've been using the VS1053 as a MIDI synth

• MIDI input through SPI

• Audio output through the headphone pins.

I want to change to send the audio out through I2S to a Teensy 4 MCU, using the Teensy's second I2S port.
By default, the Teensy expects to be in Master mode for I2S (which, I understand, means that it provides the clock signal)

Is the VS1053 in I2S slave mode (or can it be?)

The I2S of vs1053/vs1063 can only be master.
