Hi!

It is very common to have connection problems with the card in the beginning. To connect, you need for example to remove SD card, and reset the VS1053 just before loading the code.

First you should download the latest VSIDE installer from viewtopic.php?f=2&t=298. Then use the Solution[Right-Click] options -> debugging -> Autodetect to find the chip and the settings. Then you need to reset the VS1053 once more before you connect.

Hmmh, it shouldn't be so very difficult...

- Power off VS1053 Developer Board
- Remove SD Card
- Remove SPIB jumper or remove EEPROM
- SCLK, (and SE1, SE2, SE3) jumpers on
(please measure that GPIO0 and GPIO1 is Low at power-up)
- MAX3232 adapter to make 3V RX and TX
- Power to MAX3232 adapter from "2V8" pin
- Try different GND pins for the MAX3232 adapter
- MAX3232 RX to board RX, TX to board TX, also connect other way to test
- Use fresh battery
- Power on VS1053 developer board
- Click VSIDE Autodetect button

Still doesn't work? What does VSIDE Autodetect say?

If you know the COM port number for the cable, you should notice that the VSIDE autodetect stops for around 2 seconds at the cable's COM number. If it just goes through, then VSIDE cannot open that port.

Can you measure the RX pin when you click Autodetect. It should be normally at 3 volts, then you should see some waveforms in the RX when the Autodetect runs.

- Try another PC
- Try another cable
- Try another VS1053 board...

** power off => OK
** remove SD card => OK
** remove spib jumper (and EEPROM) => OK
** SCLK, SE1, SE2 and SE3 jumper ON => OK
** GPI00 and GPI01 is low power up => OK
** MAX3232 adapter => OK
** power to MAX3232 => OK
** try different GND pins => OK
** Rx => Rx and Tx => Tx => OK
** fresh battery => OK
** Power ON Vs1053 board => OK
** click VSIDE AUTODETECT => OK

WORK ?? => NO

ERROR VSIDE => UNABLE TO AUTODETECT HARDWARE !PLEASE SPECIFY CORRECT SETTINGS MANUALLY
..................................................................................
measure RX pin => 3 VOLT ... no waveforms
..................................................................................
TRY ANOTHER CABLE => OK
DON'T WORK !!
........................................
TRY AN OTHER VS1053 BOARD => i have only one board.
....................................................................................
The COM port number is 1 because it work with the hyperterminal.
I have few seconds at the cable's COM number.

Ok,

Please disconnect cable from VS1053 board and measure directly from cable (PC transmit) to see the waveforms in oscilloscope, when you click auto-detect. The cable pin where you see the 3V/0V waveform connects to VS1053 RX.

HyperTerminal must not be running/connected when you click autodetect.
