vs1005 as usb audio device

Post by samuelip »

Hi,

Is it ready to use the vs1005 chip as external usb audio device when it connect to PC? Any reference design? If not, any recommendation?

Will it support usb audio class 2.0? It will support more than 2 channel audio.

We're working on this. Can you ask us again in a month or two?

Hi any update on the development status and schedule?
Would like to know if I want to modify it by myself. Can I do it with the vsos 3.27 software? I find the VSOS_327_RootAndLibrariesSourceCode.zip file in the release thread.

Hello VLSI team. The question raised in the topic interests me, too. Is there any progress in this area?

Hi, VLSI team. Recently I assembled my device on your wide-functional codec, it works great. Very not enough audio output from the PC. I am interested in whether there is progress in this direction. I know that Mr. Panu and Mr. Henrik are aware of the desires of developers to take advantage of this opportunity. Regards.

Hi!

There's a problem with the USB controller of VS1005G, which makes implementing USB audio very difficult. But we have it working perfectly in the VS1010.

Hi Panu!

Long time no see.
We are working on a new version of our music player and we were hoping to have the usb audio with the vs1005.
But from what I read on the forum, it's not available for the vs1005.

Is it still the case?

If yes, is there any other way to play music from the USB as a slave?
We don't want to read mp3 file from a usb device anymore.

Thanks,
Max

Problem with VS1005 USB audio is hardware related. And there hasn't been a new revision. So unfortunately only chip from VLSI which can do USB audio is VS1010.

Hi,

I gave this problem some more thought on porting to VS1010.

If there aren't some VS1005 specific features required, like huge memory or AD converters and recorder features, most programs can be ported to VS1010.

MP3 decoding works on VS1010, USB host is supported and SD-card also works on both. If there are requirements for more codecs, that will make life much harder.
